As part of The Scout Association’s partnership with Vodafone, we want to make sure that young people are not only using technology to enhance their lives, but are also doing so safely. Before getting stuck into a digital skills badge, it is important that young people understand both the benefits and risks of being online.
In order to support you in engaging young people with online safety, we have developed a safety game and resources in partnership with Vodafone. These will help young people to understand how to stay safe online through fun and interactive activities. They have been developed around four core principles of staying safe:
- Keeping private information to yourself
- Sharing information carefully
- Staying aware when forming friendships online
- Getting help
The e-safety game ‘Stay Safe’ will give young people a score determined by the knowledge of the young person. This score can then be noted down and shared with their leader.
Encourage your young people to play the game and to have a go at the other offline activities together, before your section start their Digital Citizen or Digital Maker badges.
